This event has ended.

LMAKbooks+design presents Dinner a group show that brings together 4 designers – Ashley Corbett-Smith (A C-S studio), Sage Cortez (Hand and
Fire), Natascha Madeiski (in collaboration with Linnie McLarty), and Xenia Taler (in collaboration with Akai Ceramics). As we’re heading into the heart of winter and find ourselves with friends around the dinner table we invited these designers to each bring an object that could be used to set the table.

Ashley Corbett-Smith is from Sydney, Australia. He previously designed alongside Adam Goodrum and worked on projects for Alessi to Veuve Cliquot. Recently, he ventured out on his own, expanding to designing and crafting bespoke furniture, lighting and producing objects under his own name AC-S Studio. For Dinner he has contributed his recently launched brass candleholders, named Jeff. The form is based on one of the earliest architectural principals.

Sage Cortez is the hands and mind behind Hand & Fire Ceramics. A ceramist and designer who’s honed her craft into re-envisioning functional tableware. Her work is inspired by wabi-sabi and minimalism, as she lets the material lead her to create each piece and leave their unique mark. For Dinner she has contributed the coffee set, with a poor over carafe and a spouted container for milk. This unique design provides the perfect tools for the ritual of making coffee. With the pour over container the maker becomes an integral part of process.

Natascha Madeiski was born in Italy but has fine-tuned her design in England, extending it to architecture, lighting, furniture and collaborative public projects. Her recent venture has been in ceramics in which she innovates and re-interprets some of the ‘norms’ found in function and gives them a fresh look. On view is Now and Then. A collection of vessels with serving tools elegantly incorporated into the design and is an integral part of the concept. We also present her Terrazzo Vase in which she revisits the classic method of using composite material, like marble and stone, usually used in floors but this time being applied to the classic form of a vase.
Xenia Taler lives and works in Ontario Canada and her unique sensibility of color and aesthetic makes her work instantly recognizable. Taler believes in function and accessibility for her audience, without sacrificing beauty and quality.
