Welcome to Love Letter Lounge, a participatory performance installation about Love by Barbara Ann Michaels, Jester of the Peace. Write love letters of joy or loss to your flames present, past, and future, or letters to your beloved family, friends and colleagues - just in time to post for Valentine’s Day. Pay it forward and leave a love letter for a stranger in the bowl by the door. Each visit, practice habits of healthy love as part of the daily Lasting Love Practicum - such as being seen, being heard, being true, and just being you without having to try so hard. Throughout the exhibition, book ceremonies of love with the Jester of the Peace, symbolically devoting yourself to another, to yourself, to anything along your artful path, or for honoring a separation. Legal weddings at Love Letter Lounge require a valid New York State wedding license. While In the gallery, Ms. Michaels will write her first book on what she has learned about love as an award-winning legal wedding officiant in New York City for the last five years, alongside tales from her own eccentric path of love. She chooses to believe she was conceived on Valentine’s Day, as she was born exactly nine months later on November 14th. Ms. Michaels was born to love. She will be delighted to see you.
