Jeffrey Leder Gallery is quite pleased to announce a major exhibition of the work of three important and award-winning artists: Jeffrey Bishop, Frank Connet and Charles Marburg.
Organic Connections features over forty works of sculpture, drawings, and paintings, exhibited on two floors of the gallery. This exhibit reflects an integral dynamic of divergent yet related artwork - curated by Charles Marburg. One aspect that unites the three artists is a certain earthiness that runs through each of their work. Curated by Charles Marburg
Charles Marburg
“The images in my work are drawn from elements and ideas that I am intimately and daily in contact with, from what I see, hear and read, that inspire both organic and geometric images in various juxtapositions and color relationships, with the goal of being received as pure visceral: felt, rather than analyzed. I often seek to create ambiguity within the figure/ground relationships and create compositions that appear to expand beyond the frame, letting the work live for the viewer outside of conventional parameters.”

“For a long time I’ve worked on multiple bodies of work that don’t cohere to a single signature style. I have a multi-faceted studio practice wherein ideas and references float freely in play on walls and floors. I temper this somewhat as the work occasionally takes serial form.
Frank Connet
“Patterns of growth and decay form the template for this body of work. I’m interested in imagining the processes of cellular division and crystalline growth; The ways in which the natural world surges forth, builds upon itself, then collapses and spalls apart. I work intuitively and informally, letting the work unfold as naturally as possible. I think of a ripe germinating seed splitting open, rampant trumpet vines and the mud daubers under the eaves.
