Jeffrey Leder Gallery
Gallery in The Queens area
Jeffrey Leder Gallery presents a wide range of important contemporary art by established and emerging American and international artists. It is our philosophy that art serves to establish community, linking each of us to each other and to what is around us. The gallery’s objective, therefore, is to create a space for artists, collectors, collaborators and the general art community to interact.
A financial marketing expert with a lifelong passion for art, Jeffrey Leder saw an opportunity to bring together all of his varied relationships under this inclusive philosophy.
Ambitious in his aim, Leder is focused on establishing a supportive space for artists at varying points in their careers. As creative and executive director, he is keen on exploring a full range of art. Leder is billing his space as a contemporary gallery, focusing on painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and, occasionally, music, literature and modern dance. “I’m creating a space where people will be comfortable and can relate to engaging artwork; a space that fosters an environment of casual discourse and discovery.”
Leder felt strongly that Long Island City, home to MoMA-PS1, the Noguchi Museum, and the SculptureCenter, along with over 1,000 artists’ studios, deserves a gallery of serious size and scope. He converted one of the area’s former factory spaces into a 3,000 square-foot modernist, upscale gallery.
LIC’s remarkably close proximity to midtown Manhattan has led to the growth of a luxury market, stimulating a continual rise of arts and cultural institutions. As Andrew Russeth, for artinfo.com, wrote last year, “Long Island City is actually home to some of the city’s most interesting art spaces…You feel disconnected from Chelsea, but you’re actually in the heart of the art world.” The Jeffrey Leder Gallery aspires to take its place among them.
