Charles Marburg Exhibition
Jeffrey Leder Gallery
This event has ended.
Charles Marburg’s unique artwork is closely tied to his approach. Having spent over twenty years studying image, shape, color, and medium, his work has become an extension of himself and his study. He has been known to work on more than one painting at a time; moving from piece to piece as each challenges and examines a different aspect of an idea.
An exploration of shape and spatial relationships, the approach Marburg chooses often dictates the culmination of each piece. His paintings are personal stories that express an unconscious dialogue. His goal in this is to “be more sensitive to my creative process, and hopefully better able to question my own underlying assumptions about subject matter.” No piece is finished until it possesses “a hint of the sublime” that connects the viewer, the artist and the subject matter.
Marburg received his B.A. from Georgetown University in D.C., and studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
