This event has ended.

LMAKprojects presents Jeff Grant's first solo exhibit with the gallery titled "Thin light". The exhibit consists of drawings, sculpture, installation, and a video questioning the quality and specificity of our perception of the materiality of form whether it be light, sound, or solid matter.

The viewer is confronted with subtle mark-making either through thin graphite lines on paper or the stretched black string that is used to create an installation at the back of the gallery. As the viewer perceives the work, sound permeating the gallery comes from a video, which shows the lid of a grand piano that is being tuned. The composition-less sound is in contrast to, or calls into doubt, the formal organization of the exhibition; its bluntness counters the delicacy of the lines.

Grant's approach to the material be it dimension, light, or sound, is sincere in trying to strip it of our preconceived notions of form. Through his work he induces the elements and viewer to a new sense of order.

Grant lives and works between Berlin and New York. His work has been shown throughout Europe and the US: Grimm/Rosenfeld, Thomas Erben Gallery, Marianne Boesky Gallery, Whitespace, and Team Gallery.
