Cheim & Read

Gallery in The Upper East Side area

Add this to my venues

The gallery was founded in 1997 by co-owners John Cheim & Howard Read.

Each artist of the gallery has exhibited widely in museum and gallery contexts and has been regularly included in international exhibitions such as the Venice Bienniale, Whitney Biennial, Carnegie International and Documenta. The exhibition program is best characterized by its adherence to a rigorous curatorial model that has incorporated critical monographic exhibitions such as William Eggleston (1999), Louise Bourgeois (2001), and Joan Mitchell (2002).
