Mizuma & Kips Gallery presents a solo exhibition by an artist Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba “Metaphysically Yours - Bruises Under Conscience”.

Nguyen-Hatsushiba has continuously presented the series called “Memorial Project,” based on the struggles of political and economic refugees the world over. He has participated in numerous Biennale and Triennale exhibitions around the world and has gained worldwide recognition. Following the previous photographic series titled While I am Dead - A Prelude to Life shown in Tokyo last year which comprised of over 200 monochromatic images that served as a photographic survey of daily encounters in Houston, travel destinations in Tokyo before the pandemic, and his theatrical and sports photography, the new body of works in this exhibition continues the artist’s contemplative journey of the conscience. In this new show, the artist shares fragments of his daily accounts of living the transitional tidal wave of the American political culture.

Nguyen-Hatsushiba is also participating in the show “Visionary Legacies: A Tribute to Harold J. Newman” taking place at Asai Society Museum from June 15th to December 31st, 2022.

This exhibition celebrates the life of Harold (Hal) J. Newman (1931-2021) and honors the generosity and vision of the Newman family in their support of Asia Society Museum’s ongoing efforts to remain at the forefront of collecting Asian art in the twenty-first century. The exhibition includes Nguyen-Hatsushiba’s video installation entitled Memorial Project Nha Trang, Vietnam: Towards the Complex—For the Courageous, the Curious, and the Cowards.
