GR gallery presents its first solo exhibition by Mayuka Yamamoto, whose dreamy and melancholic paintings depict alluring yet eerie fanciful portraits. Embracing in full the definition of Japanese “Kawaii” aesthetic, Yamamoto’s compositions always develop around the figure of a cute child dressed up in different animal costumes, or even fused with animal features. Her spotless oil technique execution is dominated by light tone pastel colors that, together with the character barren gaze, imbue the artwork in a timeless wistful atmosphere. A strong sense of nostalgia, connected to the artist’s urge to evoke her beloved childhood, counterbalances the adorable semblance of the protagonist and his accessories.

“Trick or Treat” will unveil fifteen various size paintings on canvas and a lithograph, appositely created for this occasion.
