Nagib Nahas “Images of the City”

For his fourth solo Bowery show, Nagib Nahas will exhibit paintings of Manhattan streets, based on photographs taken over many years around his different places of employment. Combining attentive description and formal rigor, these pictures convey very effectively the distinctive tenor of their grand and varied subject—the City.

The artist writes:
“I love Manhattan for its variety and complexity, its dense overlaps and incongruities of size and scale, its abrupt juxtapositions and seemingly endless formal and chromatic combinations and permutations. I also love its underlying order.”
