A two-person exhibition by Jude Tallichet and Nora Chellew

Nora Chellew and Jude Tallichet present a collaborative exhibition of sculpture entitled even-toed ungulates, an uncanny and fantastic viewing of disembodied beeswax and silicone forms. The sculptures, some limb and stomach-like, are accompanied by field-style sound recordings played on a loop.

With even-toed ungulates the artists darkly reimagine animal bodies and sounds through the lens of a future anthropological wax museum.

This work by Tallichet and Chellew hypothesizes breeds of sapiens that may have existed before us, or hominins that could exist long after we are gone. Perhaps the sculptures tell of a botched immortalization of homo sapiens by our predecessors.
The artists’ notion of a false fossil plays with our Western need for quantitative knowledge. The sculptures speak to the fine line that separates contemporary human beings from creatures who in the blink of an evolutionary mutation might share warped versions of our mammalian bodies.
