This event has ended.

Ceres Gallery presents White on Black, a series of paintings on wood – except for two large ones – by German-born artist Anne Drager. White on Black has a series of humans and one of animals. The white outlines on black background straddle between illustration, cartoon and fine-art.

In the past two years Drager has not exhibited due to illness. To celebrate her come-back show at CERES, a New York City Women’s Gallery founded in 1984, all proceeds go to L’Arche USA, an organization for people with disabilities, and New York’s Middle Collegiate Church.

Drager’s work won honorable mention at the Guildhall in East Hampton under jurors Robert Storr, former dean of the Yale Art School, and from Instagram-Celebrity curator Jia Jia Fei, director of Digital at the Jewish Museum. Drager’s work has been rented for props by the TV Show “The Affair” (Season3).

She says about her art: “I made the turn from art appreciation to art making during a time of need and it continuously provides new destinations of healing, learning, discovery and contemplation. Hence, my art is a tool for living”.
