This event has ended.

mh PROJECT nyc presents Spit Up from a Water Witch, a solo exhibition of sculptures by Jason Rondinelli, whose recent body of work expresses the simultaneous processes of coming together and falling apart. Embodied within these works, the opposition between assembly and collapse conveys a parity between the desire to be pure, whole and complete, and an impending sense of failure. This struggle creates a dynamic suspense and catharsis. Instead of pivoting immediately towards rebirth, Spit Up from a Water Witch asks the viewer to observe and behold the destruction and shame left in the wake of defeat.

Jason Rondinelli is an emerging artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Rondinelli’s sculptures facilitate the transformation of organic material as a means for constructing evolving corporeal narratives about sexuality and health. Rondinelli received his BFA From Pratt Institute in 2002 and his MFA from Hunter College in 2018. His work has been reviewed by Hyperallergic and The Brooklyn Rail. He has attended various residencies including the Vermont Studio Center and Rockland Residency and he was nominated for the Dedalus MFA Fellowship Grant in 2019. He has exhibited in several artist run spaces such as Nurture Art, Equity Gallery and Amos Eno Gallery.
