“Collectouples” Exhibition

The Academy celebrate the passions and personal tastes of a diverse group of art collectors.
The four artistic couples spotlighted in “Collectouples,” all longtime friends and supporters of the Academy, were given free rein to exhibit what they wanted, and each grouping gives remarkable insight to how artists collect and live with art. The 27 selections in the show range from idiosyncratic selections of works by unknown artists to major pieces by Derrick Adams, Francesco Clemente, Alice Neel, Peter Saul and Francesca Woodman and Old Masters Auguste Rodin and Willem van de Velde the Elder. Each piece in the show tells a story, from works created by close friends to works acquired on a special occasion.
