L. Parker Stephenson Photographs presents American-born Paris-based photographer Jane Evelyn Atwood with the season opening exhibition of vintage work from her first two series; Rue des Lombards (1976-1977) and Pigalle People (1978-1979). Acclaimed in her adopted country (with five different exhibitions this year), Atwood’s work has surprisingly seldom been seen in the US despite being her being the first recipient of the W. Eugene Smith Fund Grant in 1980. Following-up on our introduction of her work at AIPAD’s Photography Show, this exhibition will offer the opportunity to discover, in depth, the early work of this celebrated documentarian.
