This event has ended.

Obsession. Every morning I find myself drawn to my window on the 25th floor by a magical light show overlooking three bridges – Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg.

And on out to the balcony with my camera several times, trying to capture “the moment” of the rapidly changing moments of colors and clouds.
How could the same view painted over and over hold my interest? How could I paint the masterpiece in the sky with mere oils??

The iconic bridges of New York, sometime mere silhouettes, appear like a backdrop stage set trying to command attention with the impossibly wondrous skies.
A tiny police boat keeps watch.
Powerful freighters pass, toys against the heavens.

Elysium. Empyrean. Eden. Utopia. Fervor. Bliss. Inferno. And a rather belated nod to the New Kid on the Block, 1 Manhattan Square, as it claims its place amongst the giants.

So many more paintings still unpainted. My tribute to NYC and the skies above her!

Bradshaw’s work was influenced by the realism of the Ashcan painters, as well as the sense of color and atmosphere explored by the Impressionists. She has shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and is the recipient of several awards. Ellen is President of Pleiades Gallery since 2000.
