Blue Mountain Gallery presents This and That III: A Silent Auction, Castellana’s third exhibition at the gallery. It includes Tuscan landscapes, intimate still lifes, and figure paintings based on recreated memories. In the past two years, he has been experimenting with new techniques, subject matter, and styles including for the first time abstract paintings: a “One Person Group Show.”

This is Castellana’s seventeenth solo show and third at Blue Mountain Gallery, He has had many artist residencies in Italy, where he has also exhibited, and at the Vermont Studio Center. He studied at the Art Students League, New York Studio School, and Queens College. His teachers included Edwin Dickinson, Charles Cajori, Mercedes Matter, Esteban Vicente, and Louis Finkelstein. Castellana is a former member and director of the Bowery Gallery. He graduated from Harvard with a degree in biology, earned a Ph.D. in Economics at the Graduate Faculty of the New School, and directed the Interdisciplinary Studies program at Fairleigh Dickinson University before retiring.
