This event has ended.

Rendered Void is an exhibition of recent photographs and porcelain sculptures by Fellowship Artist Gabriela Vainsencher. Since acquiring the catalogue for Treasures of the Bible Lands, a 1987 exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Vainsencher has been physically and conceptually mining it to produce her latest body of work: one-to-one photographs of the book’s pages, cut up and layered. The resulting images call to mind the holes in the ground after an archeological expedition has departed; the negative space left behind by something that has been taken away. In addition to the photographs, Vainsencher will present a recent series of abstract porcelain sculptures that formalistically echo the shape of the cut holes in the photographs, while engaging the idea of the void as a container for meaning.
