This event has ended.

Calico is excited to announce a new format for 2019!
In its 7th year of exhibitions, Calico has kept a focus on local emerging artists by hosting an array of solo exhibitions, collaborative events, themed group exhibits, annual affordable works sales, and more. This year, Calico continues to evolve with a featured selection of small works and craft-based art objects. Most of the work on display will be under $500, with many pieces available in the $50-$200 range. The roster will consist of local and national artists that have exhibited at Calico in the past, and the grouping will be unique to Calico. Expect to find ceramics, prints, small sculptures, textiles, original paintings, and plenty of the “other” things that many fine artists are producing alongside their primary bodies of work.

In addition to the new collection, Calico will be presenting a Featured Artist every few months. Featured Artist Number One is Steph Becker.
Steph Becker is a Brooklyn based artist working in painting and illustration. Influenced primarily by folk art, she utilizes a subdued color palate, simplified forms, and minimal detail. Becker is interested in the beauty and integrity of simplicity, and her work aims to communicate complex emotions clearly and purely.
In her current work she explores the struggle of fitting into society while cultivating and following a personal life purpose. Using animals as a metaphor for one’s natural instinct, she depicts pets, horses, and farm animals being confined, limited, or sometimes freed from the constricts of society. She captures quiet moments of doubt about the merits of safety and comfort verses a calling to explore, discover, and live according to one’s true nature.

Exhibiting artists include: Adams Puryear, Aimee Lusty, Amanda Browder, Caroline Burghardt, Charles Wilkin, Damion Silver, Darkclouds, David B. Smith, Jessica Campbell, Julie Parsons, Kate Nielsen, Kenley Darling, Kirkland Bray, Lauren Silberman, Mark Mann, Michael Hambouz, Steph Becker, Thomas Buildmore, and more….
