This event has ended.

The artists in Corpora In Tractus work with the body. From this starting point the artists push inward, toward personal exploration, and outward to the political landscape. Just as land becomes landscape only once a frame is put around it to delineate is as such, the body defines itself and is defined by its scale and the relationship to its context. This frame of understanding is who we are and how we become what we are. The challenge these artists have given themselves is to transform the limitations imposed upon the body, to define those frames and push against them.

To reframe, to transform, is to create and transgress. It is a production of meaning that begins with the body. And although, “The body is the boundary most of us are unable to move against,” as bell hooks writes, “to transgress I must move past boundaries, I must push against to go forward. Nothing changes in the world if no one is willing to make this movement.” - Keith Miller.
