This event has ended.

Ceres Gallery presents unmapped territory a solo exhibition of mixed media works by Sara Conklin.

Conklin’s recent works tackle the mysterious emotionally driven passage of death, interpreting the journey as a peaceful exploration of past and present experience.

Death’s transitory state is echoed by the layers of mixed media Conklin employs in her process. Although the end result of Conklin’s process is ultimately a hand painted print, the fluid layering of imagery creates the feeling of a painting. Ironically, these images are comprised of digital photographs of the artist’s original paintings and scans of a painting bought by the artist at a flea market.

The journey that the viewer shares with the subject matter has overtones of movement and passage, dignity and purpose. The fluidity of the composition’s atmosphere enhances a state of weightlessness and euphoria.

Besides the five solo exhibitions that she will have had at Ceres, Conklin has had solos with the Delaware Valley Arts, Alliance, Narrowburg, NY, Ridgefield Guild of Artists, Ridgefield, CT, and the Broome Street Gallery, NYC. She has been included in numerous group exhibitions including an exhibition at the Long Island Museum, Stony Brook, NY, Artspace, in New Haven, CT to name a few. She has received notices in publications such as Tolt News, including the Cover, NY Arts Magazine, Catskill Mountain Region Guide. Ms. Conklin received her BS in Art from Springfield College, Springfield, MA. She also did further studies at Smith College, Northampton, MA and the Art Students League in NYC.
