Bowery Gallery presents an exhibition of thirty paintings by Alaska painters David Mollett and Jessie Hedden. Working in oil on canvas and acrylic on paper, the artists produced these paintings in 2017 during a six-month residency near Vers-Pont-du-Gard, France.

Inspired by the beautiful, sunlit Languedoc countryside, both artists worked on site. Using lively colors and rhythmic marks, Hedden caught views of the Gorge du Gardon as well as images of local wildflowers. Her work at Bowery also includes a number of black and white acrylic drawings. Mollett vividly captured the light and space of of vistas of the Gorge, the Vers farming countryside, and strange, rugged earth formations near the town of Fournes.
