Kit & Caboodle. Bric a Brac. Salmagundi. Potpourri. Not from your Closet. Summer Group exhibitions are a good time to pull together new works, old classics, and a variety of pieces by a selection of artists. Works ranging from Alfred Leslie’s extraordinary 1984 watercolor from “100 Views Along the Road” to Baron Von Fancy’s sign painted slogans bang against each other, creating refreshing (no pun, Neil Winokur!) juxtapositions.
Jan Groover’s complex still lifes, which seem to literally contain the whole kit and caboodle, share a conversation with Robert Cumming’s extraordinary cut paper silhouettes from Argentina. Both share a preoccupation with picture space.
From Martin Parr’s comical documentation of the extravagant Mall of America Lego display to Fred Cray’s double printed self-portrait, this gallery exhibition includes it all.
It’s summer. Come visit us in Dumbo, take a ride on the carousel, have a lobster roll at Luke’s.
