Opera Gallery NY presents Suspended Reality, a new series of paintings and sculptures by Swiss-based artist Andy Denzler.
This is Denzler’s first exhibition at Opera Gallery New York which recently opened in May 2016. Denzler’s paintings are images frozen in time, giving the perfect impression of the abstract and the figurative. Distorted figures are the result of Denzler’s unique technique using painting, printing, and graphic design.
“I’m principally concerned with addressing time and evoking a narrative through composition, light, and motion,” said Denzler. “I depict time by applying a filter of blurred movement.”
Denzler’s works have been exhibited across Europe, America, and Russia. They are part of prestigious private and public collections such as the Ludwig Museum in Germany, Burger collection in Hong Kong, Museum of Modern Art in Moscow, the White House, and the Museum Würth in Schwäbisch Hall, among others.
His “Motion Paintings” are divided into four groups of works: Portraits, History Paintings, Figures & Landscapes, and Urban Figures. Denzler has found a seamless way of evoking the feeling of photography in his paintings. His works move between abstraction and reality.
Andy Denzler was born in Zurich, Switzerland, where he lives and works.
