This event has ended.

Unfolded Clarity, presents recent works by Waeeny Abelle Des Sources, a budding artist and architect living and working in New York City.
The modernist ethos is at play here: the abstract forms of each painting reach toward a clarity of meaning beyond the visible and the
particular. And yet, vibrant, unexpected color combinations overlie the rigid geometry of architecture, eliciting tension on top of the
seeming order. Phantom, blurred blueprints for structures never-built – as in Solarium or Classic Discord – their diagonal lines stretching
somewhere beyond the composition, are revived on canvases laden with color. Other works hint at a more representational aesthetic: the
apparent tire marks/slashes of Prepotence, the shimmering fire of myth in The Fall of Prometheus.

Layering – of styles, forms, colors, and brushstrokes – feature in all these works. These layers reveal artistic creation, which for Des Sources is a “physical conversation between herself and the canvas,” with composition emerging in the process.

This is Des Sources’ first solo exhibition. An architect by training and profession, Des Sources sees her art as a bridge between work and
leisure, the everyday and the creative, the practical and the fantastic.
