This event has ended.
Conklin’s newest series re-visits one of her favorite subjects: the structure of the house and home, physically, emotionally and psychologically. Recognizable objects, like houses, and their environments take on new meaning in unnatural settings. Conklin creates psychological tension. Houses are on the verge of destruction or pending doom. They are spewing water or are oddly perched on natural terrain. Layered ephemeral media such as personal wallpaper, visual memories of structures lived and abandoned in one’s past…create Conklin’s dramatic narratives. We are reminded that nothing is ever totally new. Remains of the past… are even at very least a subliminal part of the present and a hint of the future.
