This event has ended.

Pace Prints presents two James Turrell exhibitions at its 32 East 57th Street and 521 West 26th Street galleries. The exhibitions will run concurrently with James Turrell: Projections 1967-1968 at two Pace Gallery locations, 32 East 57th Street and 534 West 25th Street.

The exhibitions will introduce Suite from Aten Reign (2015), a vibrant set of two Ukiyo-e woodcuts with relief printing, created in collaboration with master printer Yasu Shibata and Justin Israels in an edition of 30.

The show will also include three Turrell editions previously published by Pace Prints. Aten Reign (2015) is a large-scale archival pigment print in saturated shades of blue and fuchsia. A set of three etchings Suite from Aten Reign (2014) uses the aquatint technique for its inherent transitional light effects. The artist’s first edition with Pace Prints, Suite from Aten Reign (2014), is a set of three Ukiyo-e woodcuts in green, blue and sienna.

“There are major differences of course between color in light and color off of a page,” says Turrell, “The triumphant job of the printers here is to get the sense of light and color that comes out of the paper like it does with the light.”
