In Catalunya, Maryland artist Lynn Sures exhibits twenty six works in her new series, “Montserrat.” Catalunya is Catalonia, a region in northeast Spain. The mountain Montserrat is located there, and its imposing physical presence and cultural symbolism serve as the impetus for this new body of work. The exhibition focuses on 5 pigmented abaca pulp paintings; 20 embossed, pigmented flax pulp paintings; and one chine collé etching. These new works were created during residencies near Barcelona in Capellades, and in Fabriano, Italy.

Lynn Sures is a multidisciplinary artist practicing in Colesville, MD. She has recently had solo exhibitions in Mexico City, Mexico and Istanbul, Turkey. The United States Department of State, the US Library of Congress, Yale University, New York Public Library, and the Museo della Carta e della Filigrana include Lynn’s work in their collections. Lynn has created works for events in Australia, Japan, and Italy; and in Sri Lanka, where she visited as a U.S. State Department American Artist Abroad. Lynn is Program Head of Fine Arts at Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, George Washington University.
