Li Trincere and Cris Gianakos “TwoBlacksOneRed”

This event has ended.
TwoBlacksOneRed represents exactly what is in the space - one black floor sculpture, one black painting, and one red painting. In our minimalism, color sense, form, scale, and volume we are sympathetic in our conceptual similarities. There are two dimensions and three dimensions - painting and sculpture. Both extend geometric forms to create a visual impact creating a sense of wholeness. - Cris Gianakos + Li Trincere
Li Trincere: By using form, color and dimension, the expansive plane of my paintings create a visual impact. Within the multilayered application of paint, beyond the limitations of its given perimeter, the geometric forms extend further into the visual field.
Cris Gianakos: FALL is a model to scale of painted monochromatic greenish-black wood to be fabricated in corten or painted steel. The work is neither a monument nor an object. When a 4’ x 4’ square was put on point + transformed into a quadrangle, the resulting height was 5’ 7,” my exact height - a bit of serendipitous synchronicity. Entering the gallery, a linear sculpture confronts the viewer. Moving around it, a quadrangle with two diagonal elements above a negative triangle comes into view. The function is realized - two diagonal elements support the quadrangle. Moving again, a line flanked by two cubes comes into view. The sculpture transforms from the planar to the linear and back again.
