This event has ended.

Keg de Souza is an Australian artist who creates site- and situation-specific projects with an emphasis on participation and reciprocity. Her projects often take place within inflatable tents designed for the events. In Temporary Spaces, Edible Places: New York, de Souza uses local cuisine, histories and culinary traditions as a departure point for visitors to discuss the politics of food and space in New York City. The fourth in a series of performative picnics, de Souza will host an open dialogue on Saturday, May 23rd that she will map directly onto the floor of her ‘New York’ tent.

Documentation of past picnics, previously held in London, Scotland and Vancouver, surround de Souza’s inflatable structure throughout the duration of the exhibition. These ephemeral records provide insight into the customs and politics of diverse communities as well as the artist’s unique approach to participatory art.
