Denise Bibro Fine Art, in Chelsea, New York, presents its Platform Gallery exhibition “Open Heart Surgery: Manufacturing Positive Energy” by Emily Fischer Field, a New Hampshire artist based in Budapest. The show features paintings, works on paper, and sculpture.
Field’s art emerges from a search for transformation, healing, and catharsis. The work depicts the inner roads of confusion and pain to triumph and beauty. Her work forges a unique visual language of ideas and equations about chaos and organization of personal growth. Different avenues of understanding and personal transformations are explored and presented with shape, color, texture, and surprising juxtapositions of familiar and unfamiliar objects. Invisible forces become visceral.
“Open Heart Surgery: Manufacturing Positive Energy” is a body of work developed over two years in London, New York, and Budapest. The “machine” paintings depict electrical circuits and simple machines applied to everyday life. The “sculptings” are maps and models of natural, cultural mechanisms—the inner workings of the mind from a broader perspective. Painted on two sides, they fuse together. The works present worlds within worlds, micro- environments that are gradually and continuously revealed to the viewer.
Emily Fischer Field graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Fine Arts degree in 2010. At the University of Massachusetts, she studied under Richard Yarde and Jerry Kearns. In 2008, she was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Talent. Her work has been exhibited at The Barnes Gallery in Leverett, MA and The Herter Gallery in Amherst, MA.
