Sotheby’s New York S|2 Gallery presents Jim Thorell: 7 Paintings, the first solo exhibition of the Swedish painter’s works in the United States. The selling exhibition, exemplifies the artist’s delight in simultaneously revealing and concealing the inherent chaos of the subconscious. Thorell’s acrylic creations result in whimsical foliage that the artist prunes and shapes to create a sense of order in a setting of natural havoc, with bright and positive gestural colors, images of fantastical creatures and vegetation that create fertile dream-like compositions.
