Yukio Shinohara was born in Osaka in 1948. In 1970, he debuted as a cartoonist in the Sankei Shinbun, and in 1971, he graduated from the Department of Art at Kyoto University. He has had editorial cartoons and illustrations published in Mainichi Shinbun, Asahi Shinbun, Osaka Shinbun, and some weekly comic magazines. He is an acclaimed artist, having won many contests, such as the Yomiuri International Cartoon Contest and the Okhotsk Cartoon Contest. In 2005, he worked as the professor of Faculty of Manga at Kyoto Seika University, until 2014, when he began work as the president (???) of the Graduate School of Manga. He is a member and advisor of the Japan Cartoonists Association, and currently serves as president of FECO JAPAN.
