This event has ended.

The Abstract Expressionist painter Paul Burlin had a long and successful career of eight decades. The youngest at the landmark 69th Regiment Armory Show of 1913, he had created quite a stir.

Paul Burlin was born in 1886 in New York City. From 1900 until 1912 he attended the National Academy of Art as well as the Art Student’s League. Traveling to the southwest in 1910, Burlin changed the themes of his painting to focus on the spirituality of the Pueblo Indians. He sent his finished work back to New York, which spurred critical acclaim and led to an invitation to the Armory Show. He settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and over the next few years these Southwest abstractions were shown in New York.
