This event has ended.

Robert daVies is a semi-nomadic mixed media artist born in Southern England in 1976 and currently based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His works of graphite on paper involve illustrative portraiture that gets distorted and blurred with acrylic, gel mediums, and ink. The detailed faces in his work are both recognizable and foreign, from the future and of the past. Robert daVies studied at the Art Institute of Boston, MA and has exhibited internationally. This will be his first major exhibition in New York City.

Kenichi Hoshine was born in Japan, raised in New Jersey, and educated at the School of Visual Arts in New York City where he currently lives and works. His most recent paintings are mainly comprised of oil, acrylic, and plaster. These works appear to be captured moments, incomplete yet retaining specific information, like false memories or the passing recollection of a dream. Hoshine’s work is exhibited and collected internationally.

Brooklyn based Ted McGrath was born near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1980. Drawing on a constantly expanding vocabulary of gestures, symbols, allusions and marks, McGrath’s process veers toward whim and often includes little planning between figuration and abstraction - converging in a private and ramshackle mythology. The large mixed media pieces shown at Calico are loose, distorted, and musical (no coincidence - McGrath is also a musician), though their volume has been turned up to eleven. He has exhibited extensively throughout New York and beyond.
