Blister Pact “Ian Trask”

This event has ended.

Ian Trask’s newest installation, Blister Pact, is an examination of the materialistic culture in which we live. There’s a product for every purpose, and a package for every product. The rapid obsolescence of technologies and designs leaves behind innumerable forms, detached from both their intended function and meaning with the passage of time. Plastic blister packs are the cast-off ghostly impressions of those forgotten forms.

Thousands of plastic packages were sourced from consumers and producers in the artist’s community and woven together into a towering monument to tell the story of the sensitive state of our environment and the divergent possibilities of the human legacy. Drawing inspiration from the architecture and glyphic writing systems of ancient burial memorials, Blister Pact presents a physical narrative of the community’s consumer patterns today.

Ian Trask is a scientist-turned-artist living in Brooklyn, NY who explores the inherent aesthetics of material waste.
