Since the 40s, George Herms has created work across several disciplines, but he is most widely recognized for his collages and found-object sculptures. Historically, his work is associated with the California assemblage movement, the Semina artist circle, and with contributing to the development of the West Coast aesthetic. Herms’ work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX; and the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY
