“Curator’s Perspective: Remco de Blaaij” Art Talk
CUNY Graduate Center
This event has ended.
Conversation at The James Gallery with curators Remco de Blaaij & María del Carmen Carrión.
Globalization, national identity, and immigration have been important lenses for exhibitions of contemporary art in the past two decades. In his work at Center for Contemporary Art in Glasgow, the van Abbemuseum in the Netherlands, and in his research at the Goldsmiths Centre for Research Architecture in London, curator Remco de Blaaij has worked intensively on these issues through such projects as presenting a Picasso painting in Ramallah. Join de Blaaij in conversation with María del Carmen Carrión, Independent Curators International’s Associate Director of Public Programs and Research, about his current investigations of women’s activist practices in the countries of Guatemala, Jamaica, Nicaragua, and Suriname.
Cosponsored by Independent Curators International.
