This event has ended.

Causey Contemporary presents their spring exhibition season will launch with Curious Remnants. Marking artist, Zane York’s second solo show with the gallery, the exhibition will open to coincide with New York’s Armory Week.

Curious Remnants will feature Zane’s intricate oil on canvas, oil sketches on paper and charcoal drawings. Each strives to capture a fleeting movement in time and space, saving it from impermanence and incompleteness. York believes that painters make precarious records of even less tenable notions; an attempt to organize and account for the experiences that they found so necessary to transcribe: objects, feelings, suspenses, interludes, and visions. The paintings stand as reminders of what has been gained and what would otherwise become lost.

About Zane York

Zane York was born in Fremont, Nebraska and was raised all over the Midwest. From an artistic family, he began drawing at an early age; his focus and passion quickly became evident. He spent hours drawing and learning anatomy in pursuit of illustrating comic books - a goal wisely abandoned. York received his B.F.A. in Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and his M.F.A. in Painting from the New York Academy of Art, graduating with honors from both institutions. He moved out to Brooklyn in 2001 and maintains his studio in the Maspeth neighborhood of Queens. He is represented by Causey Contemporary and AKArt in New York. He has shown in New York, St. Barthelemy, France, and throughout the Midwest. He was asked to lecture in correlation with his recent exhibition Wunderkammer at Ripon College.
