This event has ended.

In her third solo exhibition at Luise Ross Gallery, the barren and mountainous Icelandic landscape serves as the starting point for Gudrun Kristjansdottir’s sculptures and paintings. Working to distil the complex forms she sees in nature down to a single gesture, Kristjansdottir explores the complex relationship between art and nature, perception and reality. Not simply abstractions of the landscape, her work retains the full expressive power and majesty of her subject matter.

Over the years Luise Ross Gallery has born witness to Gudrun Kristjansdottir’s love affair with her beloved Icelandic surroundings. From mountain tops with melting snow, to water fed basins, various times of the year have been translated onto canvas, walls, the print medium, video, wood and steel. In our current exhibition a visual taste of the past twenty-four years accompanies the artist’s sensitive acknowledgement of Iceland’s grandeur.
