This event has ended.

Chances are, if you’ve walked the city streets of Manhattan or Brooklyn within the past three or four years, you have seen a spray painted image on the walls that may resemble a jellyfish. These gestural, abstract additions to the urban environment have become a ubiquitous sight, yet the artist who creates them is shrouded in mystery. While the moniker “Jellyfish” has been applied to this artist, he chooses to neither accept nor reject that identity. Ultimately, the artist enjoys the public interpretations of his work, which fuels his artistic pursuits, as he is a messenger allowing viewers to draw their own conclusions on the pieces that they see in passing. The title of our show, Jellyfish? Why Jellyfish?, is a play on the name that people have given to this artist and the work that he produces.

This is the premier art show for the illusive artist, emerging from the shadows in order to bring his trademark imagery to the gallery walls of Mighty Tanaka.
