For his series, “Kopfüber” (“head first”), Dirk Brömmel literally suspended his camera from bridges along the Rhine River. From numerous single exposures, he assembled a complete view of steel ships, which he ultimately showcases in front of colorful backgrounds. In the exhibition, Power of Steel, LUMAS New York demonstrates the many sides of the resilient freighters which, in Brömmel’s pictures, appear majestic and almost gentle.
