Neue Galerie
This event has ended.
Neue Galerie New York presents a special exhibition on posters of the Vienna Secession, focusing on the period from 1898 to 1918. The Vienna Secession was a groundbreaking artists’ association, established in 1897 under the presidency of Gustav Klimt.
Inspired by the Wagnerian concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk, or total work of art, Secession artists incorporated both fine and decorative arts in their exhibitions, and dedicated great effort to producing artistic catalogues, posters, and even a journal. The exhibition includes work by Gustav Klimt, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Koloman Moser, and Egon Schiele, among others.
