This event has ended.

Amos Eno Gallery presents Life on Earth, a solo exhibition of one of Amos Eno Gallery’s newest members, Lucy Wilner. In these acrylic paintings Wilner invents virtual worlds, which spontaneously emerge from the interaction of minimal sets of representative objects, creatures, and environments. Each image inevitably suggests associations and oppositions, populating the cosmos of the canvas with ghostly companions.

Wilner’s is a multi-step process, beginning with the creation of sets incorporating objects and photographs, which may be warped or digitally manipulated. She utilizes a combination of transfer, direct observation, and traditional painting techniques in her works. In this way, multiple perspectives overlap, collapse, and coexist within a world that is perceptually familiar yet enlarged by new possibilities.

Wilner earned her BFA at the University of Chicago and her MFA at the University of Washington. Her work has been shown extensively in both group and solo shows across the United States including venues such as Sideshow Gallery in Williamsburg, Woodward Gallery on the Lower East Side and Fountain Art Fair in Manhattan. Her work is included in both private and public collections, such as The Seattle Art Museum, among others. Wilner lives and works in Brooklyn.
