This event has ended.

Tara Mhella’s monotypes are abstract harmonies created with oil inks and found or repurposed items such as cork and old linen. In her work she uses bold colors, lines, and shapes to express beauty, love and tension. Mhella’s work is inspired by her childhood experiences of dirt roads, crimson soil and rooted in her interactions with people and places beyond the American South.

Tara Mhella started her professional life in law before becoming an educator. She is a visual artist, writer, and educator who found her ultimate love in printmaking. Born in Lowndes County, Alabama, Mhella was raised between Alabama and Michigan. Mhella says of her work, “Each time I roll out the inks to create textures and tones, time and space disappears, and I become one with the universe. Creating art balances my life and provides harmony with the world around me”. Tara has a studio at Madarts in Brooklyn, NY.
