This event has ended.

Amos Eno Gallery presents a solo exhibition of artist Anthony Dortch, The Privileged Series: Among the Commoners, featuring multi-media works and performance. Divided into two components, The Commoners/The Other and The Privileged, explores the socio-economic stratification of contemporary American society. “The Commoners” comprises illustrations and sculpture incorporating photography and ink in bold colors influenced by comic book design. In a one-time occurrence at the opening reception on June 6th, The Privileged and The Other will be brought to life through a performance by body painted models, exemplifying wealth, corruption, poverty, and alienation. The Privileged Series: Among the Commoners focuses on, “a panoply of experiences we’d rather not have, in pictures we’d rather not see.”

Anthony Dortch earned his BA at Miami University of Ohio and has attended the Savannah College of Art and Design, and has served as a guest lecturer at several schools, including the Colorado Springs School, his high school alma mater. Dortch has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions across the United States, as well as donating his artwork to several charitable events. Dortch is a member of Touchstone Gallery (Washington, DC) and the art director of Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt Home (Washington, DC).
