Cedric Michael Cox’s paintings and drawings fall between surrealism and representational abstraction. The work of this Cincinnati based artist expresses his experience of living in the inner city, with themes ranging from mythical literature to the relationship between the physical body, musical allegories and above all, the urban landscape.
Cedric Michael Cox received a BFA in 1999 at the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP. He was awarded a fellowship to the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Throughout his career Cox has executed art educational projects at the Public Library of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Art Museum, the Weston Gallery at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, at the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, and in the public schools.
