In Love's portraits, figures emerge from darkness re-enforcing the idea that to come out as "queer" is not a single act that positions a subject as being different "in relation" to something else, but a continual emotional, spiritual and psychological process that celebrates the notion of differentiation, singularity and uniqueness of being. In presenting difference in and of itself, Love claims "queer" as an identification with difference.
Jacob Love completed his MA at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2008 and has exhibited in London, Paris and Berlin. A book of his previous work Line of Flight was published in 2010. Love teaches photography at Goldsmiths, University of London.
