ARTIST’S STATEMENT

“Possibly the flow of time is just a creation of our own interaction with the world” (Carlo Rovelli)

The observation of shadows, which have been used for centuries to register the passing of time as dictated by the movements of the sun, offered a natural entry point for an exercise in (re)discovery of a different, more personal, kind of time: one which has lost any teleological linearity, or sequential necessity, but opens up to unforeseen and unforeseeable developments produced by my own interaction with the world.

While pointing at the passing of time, shadows also open the way to a deeper reflection on the nature of time itself. They hold an elusive ambiguous nature, which is the very essence of transience and change. They dance around “fixed” objects and fan them out into multiple images that open up the possibility of different points of views and different narratives. It is this moving through, and interacting with different narratives that actually offers a chance to redefine time as a personal/interior experience.
