Born in Northwest England, Deborah Rhodes is New York artist working on contemporary subjects via classical methods of painting and drawing. Recent Works features a collection of oil paintings and charcoal studies from three years of studio time that began in Figure Drawing at the Art Student’s League, and evolved into a studio residency in Soho. Her work reinterprets traditional portraiture, object studies, and expository landscapes in an attempt to reveal otherwise subtle truths, both victorious and vulnerable.
